Electric underfloor heating running costs
The cost to run electric underfloor heating is dependent on a number of factors, so the exact cost can vary depending on your situation. In order to minimise the running costs of your system, we have outlined a few considerations below to save money when heating your home or workplace:

Insulation
Insulation is always a great idea for increasing the efficiency of your rooms. If you wish to use underfloor heating as your sole source of heat for your room, we highly recommend installing our thin insulation boards under your heating mats or wire.
It’s also important to consider insulation in walls and roofs, as well as glazing any windows to make the room more efficient and reduce heat loss. In a well insulated room, less energy will be required to heat it to your desired temperature, reducing costs.
Room Size
Rooms with a higher ceiling or larger floor will require more energy to heat the room. As a result, it is recommended you choose our more powerful 200W Warmatile Pro Mat to heat your larger rooms more quickly.
Thermostats
Your choice of thermostat can have a significant impact on your energy consumption and overall cost of underfloor heating. By choosing one of our programmable Smart Wi-Fi thermostats, you’ll be able to set timers for when you wish to turn your heating system on or off. This allows you to wake up or come home to a warm house without the need to leave the heating system on, saving energy while you don’t need to use the system.
