Choosing the right product

As there are a number of underfloor heating systems of different types and power, we understand that choosing the right product for your room can be difficult. That is why here at Warmatile our aim is to take the guesswork away. To help you choose which underfloor heating system is best for your home, please consult our guide below. For further advice or if you have any other questions, please contact us.

Underfloor Heating Mats

Our Electric Underfloor Heating Mats are designed with ease of installation in mind, and are ideal for larger spaces such as kitchens and conservatories where they will be quicker and easier to install than loose cable. Cable spacing on mats guarantee an even spread of heat over your floor.

Our Mats are available in two different power outputs – 150 watts and 200 watts per square metre.

Our 150W Stealth Mat focuses on providing a luxury floor warming option at an affordable price. This is a perfect option for complementing an existing heating system, making your floor a pleasure to walk on. Being only 3.6mm thin, it adds minimal height to your floor.

Our 200W Pro Mat is more powerful therefore can provide more heat to your room and reach you desired temperature faster than its counterparts. As a result, we recommend you use our 200W mats in areas requiring extra heat (such as conservatories or older buildings with poorer insulation). If you are looking to use underfloor heating as a sole source of heating in your room, we highly recommend our 200W mat alongside suitable insulation.

Both mats are available in multiple sizes ranging from 1.0m2 to 12.0m2. It’s important to note that cables cannot be cut, so be sure to opt for a size lower than your calculated floor area if there is any overlap. If you require more than 12.0m2, feel free to place two orders as the mats can still be linked to the same thermostat. Our 150W stealth mats can be combined to a total area of 23m2, and our 200W mats can be combined to a total of 18m2.

All orders come with a comprehensive installation guide.

Underfloor Heating Loose Cable

For smaller areas with a number of fixtures such as toilets, sinks and cabinets we recommend you order our Loose Cable. This is designed specifically to be easily installed in small or awkward areas, as our flexible cable can be easily manoeuvred around fixtures to ensure maximum and even heat coverage across your floor. As our wires have an IPX7 waterproof rating, they are suitable and safe to install in any wet rooms. This makes it the perfect bathroom or kitchen underfloor heating solution. Installing your electric underfloor heating cable is made simple thanks to our strong and durable double-sided tape to hold it in place. Meanwhile at just 2mm wide, it makes an unnoticeable difference in height or appearance to your floor, while completely revolutionising your heating system.

To work out what size cable to order, simply trace out the floor space you wish to be heated, allowing for a 10cm border around the perimeter and navigating around any fixtures. If you have a floor space larger than 12m² you can place two orders of loose cable up to a total of 18m², and link these to the same thermostat. By choosing the spacing between the wire when laying it, you can also determine the wattage you wish it to run at, giving you the flexibility to decide the power supply and heating performance based on your preference.

Thermostat Controls

After choosing the right underfloor heating product for you, it’s time to select your thermostat to complete your setup. Using a thermostat is vital in setting the correct temperature of your system, and allows you to set timers to maximise efficiency and come home to a warm house!

At Warmatile we currently offer three different thermostats, all of which are compatible with any system you choose. Details of each of these are outlined below:

MANUAL THERMOSTAT

The manual thermostat is the most affordable thermostat on the market. This thermostat allows you to carry out the basic functions of selecting your desired temperature and turning your heating system on or off.

TOUCHSCREEN THERMOSTAT

The touchscreen thermostat perfectly combines beauty and function. It comes with a 7 day program with 6 different temperature settings per day, allowing you to set your desired temperatures and let the thermostat take care of the rest. Coming with both floor and air sensors, it can reliably ensure that your system provides the best underfloor heating experience for you.

WI-FI THERMOSTAT

The Wi-Fi thermostat is the most advanced thermostat we have available and brings home warming to the next level. Like the touchscreen thermostat, it is programmable over 7 days with 6 heat settings for each day. In addition to this, it is also compatible with home systems such as Amazon Echo, allowing you to control your heating system with just your voice. For those that value remote control, you are also able to control it through your smartphone or tablet, giving you complete control and ease anywhere in the house.

Installing your thermostat is a quick and easy process. When choosing where to position your thermostat, consider its location – it’s best not to place it in a site which is considerably above or below the average room temperature, such as near a window, door, oven or radiator as this can skew the temperature reading and impact performance. We also recommend you place it around head-height on your chosen wall.

As our heating systems have only once connection point, it’s a super easy process for you or your electrician to connect your thermostat to your heating system.
