Description
What is a decoupling membrane and when is it required?
If fitting tiles on a subfloor it is recommended that a decoupling membrane is installed. Subfloors (especially wooden) can have excessive movement that causes cracking to tiles. The grid structure of the Dural Decoupling Membrane allows independent movement of your floor and subfloor so that the stress of your subfloor movement is not transferred to your tiles.
The membrane also acts as a waterproof barrier, preventing water from filtering down into your subfloor. Its grid structure allows it to accommodate for moisture build-up in the subfloor without causing stress on your tiles.
The structure of the membrane also easily transfers loads from your tiles to the subfloor (considering your subfloor is still load-bearing) to ensure that weight is evenly distributed and your tiles are supported.
Alongside our 2mm Loose Cable, find yourself the perfect flooring solution. Working in tandem with underfloor heating, it provides the perfect guide to place your Loose Cable. When using your system, the membrane’s air pockets ensure fast and even heat distribution to your floor.
